DREAM WEEKEND FOR BMW RACING TEAM TOTH AT IMOLA!

The team replaced Tamas Tompa, Imre Jr.'s mechanic with Csaba Kulik, plus secured more support from BMW and Öhlins.

The race weekend started a lot better than usual. Both Imre and Gabor found the bikes more reactive during the first free practices, because the new setups solved the bikes handling problems. Despite in a need for more pace, the team hoped for a Superpole participation.

On Saturday after the third free practice, the lightning struck. Imre recorded a 1'52.580 lap a day before, which was perfect for the 20th (Superpole eligible) place but Santiago Barragán did the exact same laptime during the final minutes of the session... According to the rules, the team had to miss the Superpole, by 0.000 seconds.

The team's ”never say die” attitude put the disappointment behind and worked through the final free practice, making the bike even more better.

The Sunday Warm-up session went down without notable improvement... But something good was in the air.

Before the races it was announced by the Grillini Kawsaki Team that Niccoló Canepa is ill, and can't take part in the races. That meant the team stepped one place forward (P19 & P20) on the grid.

Race one:

Right after the start of the first race, it was clear the teams race pace is still lacked, but because the field made some mistakes and technical errors, Imre and Gabor came close to the point scoring positions. On the 9th lap, David Salom had a huge accident, which caused a red flag situation.

Race one (restarted):

The restarted race was a 6 lap dash, Imre started from P16 Rizmayer P17. The two had an amazing fight with eachother. After seeing Leon Camier crashing out in the from of them, the fight turned into more serious. With a brave but safe move, Imre passed Gabor before the checkered flag.

Race two:

The second race started without David Salom, the team stepped up a position on the grid again. Imre and Gabor had a fantastic fight with eachother, and avoided all dangerous situations on the track, a lot of riders crashed, had technical issues, after seeing Chaz Davies stopping on the track, both riders decided to bring the bikes home safely, securing the teams best ever result in Superbike. P12 and P13 meant the team tied the 2014 Magny-Cours result, this time Imre finishing ahead of Gabor.

Rider quotes:

Imre Toth Jr.:

We had two fantastic races, yet we have to push a lot more. Our race pace is still not good, but the improvements on the bike and securing Csaba Kulik as my mechanic filled us with hope. Both races went down to the wire, fighting with Gabor, and it was amazing. We finally had some luck too, Finally I can say we made some some progress. Obviously we can't stop here and get better and better for Donnington in every way. I'm very happy right now, because this is the first time I scored points in both races on the same day!”

Results: P15 in race one, P12 in race two.

Gabor Rizmayer:

Finally! After missing out from the point since Magny-Cours last year, I finally made it! We had a two race long fight with Imre and it was amazing! The weather was a bit too warm for our bikes, but the improvements we made are worth it. I really can't wait the British round, where I hope we can make further steps ahead.

Results: P16 in race one, P13 in race two.
